London Fees at Magistrates Court

The LSC have introduced additional validation to ensure correct fees are claimed at Magistrates Court so that work undertaken at a London Court entitles the provider to claim a London Rate. Providers based in London can always claim a London Rate regardless of the court attended. The LSC have designated certain courts as London Courts (see table below).

The LSC has introduced the ability for Immigration and Mental Health providers to claim disbursements as stage bills (i.e. as an interim bill before the claim is completed). Disbursement Stage Claims can be submitted 6 months after the matter starts and/or 6 months after the last bill was made on that matter (apart from the final bill when the matter completes).

This change relates to matters started on or after 15th November 2010. This means the earliest a Disbursement Stage Claim can be made is 14th May 2011 or later. Therefore the submission period of 1st – 20th June 2011 is the earliest period in which a Disbursement Stage Claim can be made.
